Ideal temperature to place a sticker

Frequently neglected is the influence of the temperature for excellent adhesion results. Either too low or too high temperature will have an effect on the adhesion power of a sticker.

Which is the ideal temperature to apply stickers?

The ideal temperature to apply a stickers lies between 15 and 30° Celsius. Please note: This temperature corresponds to the ambient temperature as well as to the temperature of the substrate itself.

Applying at a cold temperature

If you apply a sticker during a cold temperature, the glue film will be too hard and too thick with the result that the stickers will not stick optimally. To solve this problem you can use a hair blower to heat up the surface. Please be careful with windows to avoid any damage, like breakage of glass.

We still experience that applying a sticker at a temperature around 10° Celsius should not be a big problem, as long you make sure that the surface will not be colder than this. In fact you can employ some simple tricks. On a cold day you can better apply a sticker later in the afternoon than in the cold morning hours. You can also avoid a lot of problems putting a car into a garage, instead of working outside, when it has to be wrapped.

Applying at a warm temperature

Examining the effects of very warm temperature leads to opposite effects. The glue films turns to be soft, nearly comparable with a chewing gum. So, neither the warm temperatures can be recommended. If you look at the example of the car you can better put the car into garage again. Now with the intention of a cooling down effect of the outside material.
Once installed within the right circumstances, stickers can resist temperatures between -40 to + 80° Celsius.

Clearly and briefly said, if you be aware of the right ambient and surface temperature you have fulfilled a very important factor for a good pasting sticker.
